Sue Smith

With a storied career of more than thirty years, Sue C. Smith has written an astonishing number of songs, over 90 musicals, and has the longest running staff songwriting deal in Capitol’s history – over 20 years. She’s written 15 #1 singles, been nominated for more than 30 Dove Awards with five wins and has twice been named Songwriter of the Year by the Absolutely Gospel Awards.

A versatile songwriter and lyricist, Smith has written songs across multiple genres working with a host of artists, writers and producers including Jason Crabb, Avalon, Sandi Patti, Steve Green, Karen Peck, Brian Free, The Talleys, The Hoppers and many, many more. Smith is also a passionate teacher and mentor, hosting the annual Write About Jesus Workshop, responsible for launching the careers of many young songwriters. When she’s not writing songs, she’s writing about writing songs and has authored three books: Every Hallelujah: A Songwriter’s Journey Through The Psalms, Adventures In Songwriting: A Guide For Kids And Anyone Who Wants To Write songs, and 365 Days Of Songwriting Advice: The Best Of The Write About Jesus Interviews.
